What Easy 40 is
Easy 40 connects Ontario high school students with volunteer opportunities and produces a signed record of hours verified by the hosting organizations. It is free for students and organizations.
The honesty rule
The entire platform exists to make volunteer hours trustworthy. Attempting to falsify hours (as a student, or by creating a fake organization) gets your account removed and any affected records voided. If a school asks us about suspected fraud on a specific record, we will cooperate.
What organizations agree to
Organizations confirm attendance honestly and only for students who actually showed up. The information an organization publishes on their public Easy 40 page — description, contact person, phone, email, address — must be accurate. Organizations are reviewed before joining and can be removed for inaccurate verification or fabricated details.
Coordinator consent
If an organization adds a coordinator, staff member, or volunteer contact to their team roster, the organization warrants that the person has agreed to appear publicly on the Easy 40 page AND has agreed that their name, title, and contact information will be embedded in the signed records of every student whose hours they confirm. Adding someone without their permission is a violation of these terms.
How records work
A record is a point-in-time signed snapshot of a student's verified hours, addressable by a unique code. Records are how counsellors verify hours independently — every entry names the human who confirmed it, so a counsellor can call and check. Students can revoke a record they issued at any time; the verify page will then show "Revoked" to anyone who opens the link. Revocation does not delete the record from Easy 40's database; it flags the record so counsellors know not to accept it.
What we promise (and do not)
We work to keep records accurate and the service available, but Easy 40 is provided as-is with no warranty of specific outcomes. Whether a school accepts a record is ultimately each school's decision. Our job is to make that decision easy by making records checkable — with a named human, an organization contact, and a cryptographic signature — so nobody has to take our word for it.
Your account
Keep your login to yourself. You can delete your account at any time by emailing us. See the privacy policy for what deletion does and does not remove.
Age
Easy 40 is designed for high school students, typically ages 13 and up. If you are under 13, ask a parent or guardian before signing up. We collect only what is needed (see the privacy policy) and nothing is public unless you export and share it yourself.
